When planning your trip to Sweden, consider travelling in time to witness one of Scandinavia's most exciting natural phenomena: the Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis. This magnificent display occurs when large numbers of electrons flow in towards our planet along its own magnetic field. These electrons collide with particles in the air, which then lights up. The resulting colorful image reflects the gases found in the atmosphere.
Due to the solar origin of the charged particles, the weather conditions on the sun determine if you'll see the aurora, so its appearance cannot be guaranteed. But if you're determined to get a glimpse of Aurora Borealis while focusing above the Artic Circle, you have between September and March to succeed. Of course you'll want to remember the beautiful view of the Northern Lights with stunning photography of the sight.
